DAR celebrates 48th anniversary with tea

The Major James Kerr Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, held its 48th Chapter Anniversary and Annual Christmas Silver Tea at Rails Event Center on Saturday to celebrate the Holiday Season and another successful year.

Over 50 women gathered to enjoy traditional tea and refreshments and delight in a program entitled “If Teacups Could Talk.”

Fifty-year DAR Member Alice Price was awarded a certificate honoring her 50 years of service to the National Society, which she joined in 1971. The chapter’s two Outstanding Juniors for 2020 and 2021, Kayla Shearhart and Ashlea Martin, also were recognized and presented with pins and awards.

Chapter Regent Lynn Chambers provided red roses to chapter officers and new members. Committee chairs and others received certificates for their contributions of service to the chapter and community during the year.

The Kerrville Chapter of the DAR continues to grow rapidly with 15 new members coming from Kerrville, Bandera, Comfort, Hunt, Ingram and Medina in 2021. Additionally, recent transfers have joined from DAR chapters as this area continues to draw both retirees and families who appreciate the area’s patriotic values, simpler lifestyle and beauty.

The Daughters of the American Revolution is a patriotic, historical and educational organization made up of members 18 years or older who can trace their ancestry through genealogy back to involvement in the American Revolutionary War. Anyone is welcome to join regardless of race or creed.
