Pumpkin patch makes for great fun
A very popular sign of fall in the Hill Country is the Great Hill Country Pumpkin Patch in Medina, located at 14024 State Hwy 16 N.
“This will be the 27th Pumpkin Patch here, and everyone is very excited,” said Stacie Hutzler, one the owners.
“Many families have been coming to this event for years,” she told the Bulletin earlier this month.
Hutzler said the event will be on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday through Oct. 30 (Sunday) and not be open on Halloween.
The Bulletin visited the first day of event to see and hear what was going on. One thing was clear:fun was everywhere.
Activities included pumpkin painting, an apple orchard tour, hayride, hay maze, story telling, scarecrow building and sing-a-longs.
Some visitors walked on four legs.
Alan Acosta and his sons, Kiani and Iker, were taking care of their family dogs: pup Husky Bella, Lab Duke and Terrier Rex.
The dogs drew other people who wanted to the talk with owner and pet the dogs.
Another family at the Great Hill Country Pumpkin Patch was Jessica Burrow and her children Jaci, 5, and Lexi, 2, who are from Fredericksburg.
“This is the first time for us to be here. We painted two pumpkins each, then filled up sand art and had fun running through the pumpkin maze and were able to pet the ponies,” Burrow said.
As the day moved on more folks came and it turned into a giant playground.
