Bulldog powerlifters make regional top ten
The Bandera High School Power Dawgs traveled to Bishop High School to compete in the Region 5 Division 2 Regional Championships. Region 5 is the toughest in the state of Texas and the boys competed at a high level, four of them placing in the top ten of competition.
Ethan Brown placed fourth with a total of 1,030 pounds in the 132-pound division.
He had a personal record in squat with a lift of 405 and another in deadlift with a 410 lift.
Ethan finishes his high school career having been the Region 5 Champion in 2020 and was ranked first in the state going into the State meet that year, but all sports were canceled that spring because of COVID-19. He is a two All Region Lifter.

“The boys’ season came to an end, but I am so proud of all the young men who put in so much work to become a better version of themselves,” remarked Coach Manny Martinez. “This sport is very demanding and not for the weak of heart, as it takes a lot of sacrifice to reach your goals.”
Congratulations to Ashton Robinson, Cody Jurecski, Joey Flewellen, Ethan Boyd, Justin Beal, Matthew Chavez, Daniel Freeman, Jorge Cabasos, and the four Regional qualifiers for an outstanding season.
