Area dances hope for rain
As the drought continues in Bandera County and the heavy majority of the state, two rain dances hope to change the weather conditions.
Bandera Brewery held a “Wrangle the Rain” event on the evening of Tuesday, August 9.
"We will gather in the beer garden and play games, visualize rain, say a group prayer and just generally have a great time asking the earth to send rain our way,” read a flyer advertising the brewery’s event.
A similar event is scheduled for later this month on the Bandera County Courthouse lawn.
Approved by the county commissioners as their July 28 regular meeting, the event is organized by Bandera County resident Karen Osman, who said she is working with local businesses to help promote the event.
The courthouse dance is scheduled for Saturday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Osman says the event will feature Native American dancers and traditional Polish song and prayer.
“All are invited, the only cost is your time to feel the rhythm and ask for rain,” she said.
