City administrator resigns

The Bandera City Council voted in favor of accepting City Administrator David Jordan’s resignation during their March 15 meeting.

Jordan, who was sworn in to the position in August 2021, is resigning due to personal family matters. His last day will be this Friday, March 25.

“It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Bandera, they will be missed!” David told the Bulletin.

Mayor Suzanne Schauman noted during the meeting she was reluctant to accept Jordan’s resignation. “But we all understand the family position,” said Schauman.

“We hate to see you go,” said Mayor Pro Tem Rebeca Gibson.

Jordan spoke, “Thank you for the opportunity to serve the City of Bandera. It’s a hard decision. And nothing personal, but it’s family, you know.”

Councilwoman Darcy Hasty added “I would like to say that speaking with quite a few people, and spending last week with county judges, they’ve been impressed with David, as we all have been. He is very well thought of in the short period that he’s been here. We’re very thankful, and we hope he can make his way back here someday.”

In discussion of the hiring process for the next City Secretary, Jordan said the current process he encountered was meticulous.

“It was probably one of the most thorough processes I’ve been through,” he said. “I was talked to on the phone for about an hour. I came in and interviewed for a three-person panel for about 45 minutes and then I had to interview before the city council. They did their due diligence with homework and background checks.”

The council then voted to reach out to the recruiting firm to request a proposal as the next step.
