Court raises tire disposal rates
Citing the rising cost of tire rates to the county’s garbage collection stations, the Bandera County Commissioners’ Court voted at their Sept. 22 meeting to increase the rates for a range of tire disposal products.
Commissioner Jack Moseley presented the various increased rates for tire variants that they currently accept.
“They are no longer taking split rims, so we cannot take them,” he said.
After negotiating the pricing to a whole number with Commissioner Bobby Harris, the court resolved a final price list that satisfied the garbage station’s ability to break even.
“There’s no question we gotta go up,” said Commissioner Jody Rutherford. “We are not in the tire business.”
The county collection stations will display charts with the new rates soon.
The new rates are as follows: $2 for tubes; $4 for lawnmower/ATV tires - $30 with rims; $4 for passenger & light truck tires - $30 with rims; $20 for semitruck tires - $85 with rims; $20 for super singles; $8 for skid steers - $50 with rims; $50 for front tractor tires; and $75 for back tractor tires.
