Fair Oaks Ranch man held on Bandera County child-sex assault charge
A warrant out of Bandera County accuses the 47-year-old owner of a Fair Oaks Ranch music school of aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child and harassment.
Gareth Goode remained in the Kendall County Jail Friday on a $202,000 bond.
He was picked up in Boerne Jan. 20 on the warrant issued by the 198th state District Court.
“On Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, the Boerne Police Department was advised of a suspect wanted out of Bandera County potentially located at a residence at the 200 block of Shadywood,” a statement from city Communications Director Chris Shadrock said. “Officers made contact with the suspect, Gareth Goode, and arrested him without incident.”
A Bandera County grand jury handed up an indictment naming Goode on Jan. 10.
According to preliminary offense reports from the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office, which were heavily redacted due to the ongoing investigation, the charges appear to tie back to several accusations made between 2013 and 2021.
A redacted offense report identifies two related incidents of indecency with a child February 2013. However, the Sheriff’s Office records indicate an initial investigation deemed the claims unfounded.
In April 2019, another accusation of indecency with a child was made to Bandera deputies, with a note about the previous accusations of sexual assault and indecency with a child. Yet again, the offense report identifies the accusations as unfounded.
However, an accusation of sexual assault made to Bandera County deputies June 2021 resulted in the charges against the Bexar County music-school owner.
The offense report states on June 8, 2021, Bandera sheriff’s Deputy John Broderick “was notified of a female wanting to make a report over the phone in reference to a past sexual assault of her daughter.”
According to court-docket summaries, Goode is facing four charges of indecency with a child involving sexual contact. The case was forwarded to Bandera County Investigator Michael Wedgworth.
This is not Goode’s first runin with the law, but it is his first time facing a felony charge in Texas, according to court records.
He was convicted of two driving- while- intoxicated charges — one in 1999 and another in 2011 in McLennan County and Bexar County, respectively.
A records search indicated Goode is the proprietor of Goode Music.
