Flying L PUD votes to sell water to Dollar General
The Flying L Public Utility District (PUD) voted 4-1 during a special meeting on November 22 to sell water to a Dollar General location that would be constructed across from the Flying L Ranch.
Following a public comment period, a motion to vote on the sale was made by PUD Secretary Nathon Laws and seconded by PUD Board Member Judd Ryan.
The motion was passed 4-1, with board member June Baker the sole “no” vote.
The Bulletin is awaiting an official statement from the Flying L PUD and will continue to monitor this story.
Flying L resident Lynn Haueter said she was “deeply disturbed” by the board’s decision.
“All board members with the exception of June Baker made it clear at the last meeting that they couldn’t care less what their constituents think,” she said. “They need to be replaced.”
Resident Bob Haueter, who spoke during the public comment section of the meeting, said the board has “no clue” what their responsibilities are.
“Their job is to provide water to the Flying L community, not respond to commercial businesses outside their boundaries. Previous boards have been asked to sell water outside their boundaries, and they answered ‘no.’ It’s a sad day to have our neighborhood PUD sell us out to an outside developer.”
The Bulletin reached out to Dollar General, but did not receive a response by press time.
