Fundraiser benefits local’s medical bills
Proceeds from a fundraiser scheduled for this Sunday, September 26, at Jake’s at Polly Peak will go directly to local Mark Leonard to assist him in paying his medical bills.
Leonard, a long-time resident of Bandera recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure, is a carpenter by trade without insurance who is unable to work because of his condition, according to a flyer advertising the event.
A GoFundMe campaign organized by Bandera residents Greg and Debbi Holland, who are also organizing the Sunday event at Jake’s, has raised $4,040 dollars as of Tuesday morning.
“This is something Mark cannot fix on his own, and he needs our help,” said friend and event organizer Greg Holland.
“We invite everyone to come join us and support Mark while you enjoy a day of good food, music, friends and fun,” he said.
Sunday’s event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will feature BBQ plates, live music, a live auction, a silent auction and a raffle, with all the proceeds going to Leonard.
Jake’s at Polly Peak is located at 3810 HWY 16 S. If you’re headed toward San Antonio and hit the Dollar General, you’ve gone too far.
