Garbage rate increasing October 2022
During their August 24 meeting, the Bandera City Council announced a waste disposal service rate hike of 3.45 percent that will go into effect in October 2022.
As this rate increase emerges from Republic Services, the contracted city provider, the city council will pass this cost onto the consumer.
The current contract with Republic Services, signed in 2020, has a fiveyear term and is set to ex pire on October 1, 2025.
Should the city council seek a new service provider, they would typically seek out bids at least six months prior to the contract’s end date.
Still, there is an expectation that the city council can work with Republic Services.
“I hope that Republic will resume conversations with the new City Administrator around a recycling program and an alternative service for customers who produce less waste.”, said Rebeca Gibson, Mayor Pro Tem.
