Group therapy coming to Nagel
The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic’s Mind Body Spirit counseling service is offering a support group on the topic of Grief and Loss beginning October 4 and concluding on October 25.
As a service to the community and following many requests, this support group will be open to members of the public as well as Clinic patients. At this time, the group is limited to eight members.
The Grief and Loss support group will meet every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Events Center of Helping Hand, located on the Village of Hope campus which includes the Nagel Clinic.
The cost is $20 per person for the four sessions of counseling to cover supplies. Participants are asked to bring a brown bag lunch to each session. The clinic will provide drinks and dessert.
According to the clinic, Grief and Loss is recommended for:
•Bereaved partners and spouses grieving the loss of a significant other
•Bereaved parents who have experienced the death of a child
•Adults grieving the suicide of a loved one
•Adults grieving the death of a loved one
•Adults grieving the death of a parent To create a safe and supportive environment for all group members, all candidates for participation must schedule an intake consultation by phone with our resident therapist, Donna Carrasco L.P.C., prior to the first group meeting. Intakes cannot be scheduled for new group members on the same day as the first group meeting.
“Hearing from others with similar issues helps you see that you’re not alone in having challenges, whether you’re grappling with grief, depression, or a related mental health issue,” said Carrasco. “Many people experience a sense of relief.”
Donna Carrasco received her Masters of Arts degree from the University of Texas at the Permian Basin in 2004. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor, Certified Anger Resolution Therapist, and a Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist Specialty Provider.
