Lakehills legion donates to nonprofits
During their March General meeting, the members of the Lakehills American Legion Post 410 voted to award $500 donations to numerous Bandera area non-profit organizations, including the Silver Sage Meals on Wheels program, the Lakehills Library and the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic.
Post Finance Officer Ron Clarke said the decision is voted on by post membership.
“We wish we could support more needy organizations, but we are proud of our quarterly assistance checks to local agencies,” said Clark. “Our legion members were very enthusiastic about providing this support and nominating these agencies for our direct financial support and the membership is insisting that we continue this support wherever possible.
Post Commander Will Evans said the legion was proud to pass on support to fellow non-profits.
“We are pleased to provide financial support once again to our local area community-based non-profits that do so much for our fellow residents and the veterans we serve,” he said. “Our Bandera County community has been very supportive of our Lakehills American Legion Post and our efforts, and as an open post, we are open to the public at large, and are supported by our local community members and veterans.”
According to a post release, the location is preparing for a major interior renovation to modernize and upgrade the facility, which is open to the community each day except Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
