Library exhibition commemorating Ukraine history
Starting next Tuesday, the Bandera Kronkosky Public Library will be hosting a special exhibition commemorating the 90th anniversary of Holodomor, the man-made famine which claimed the lives of millions of Ukrainians from 1932 to 1933.
The exhibition, which will have its opening ceremony on October 11 and run through October 21, is coordinated by Ukrainian San Antonio, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving Ukrainian culture and heritage.
The exhibition will feature stories from the diary of a Ukrainian woman who survived Holodomor and World War Two.
Bandera’s library will be the first stop for the exhibition before traveling to other libraries. Tuesday’s opening ceremony will feature special guests, including dignitaries from Ukrainian San Antonio, local leaders and members of the Bandera Chamber of Commerce.
According to a press release, the event will be set up like the chamber’s Cork Popper event, where people are encouraged to bring a bottle of wine and snack to share.
The opening ceremony will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11 in the library’s Artist of the Month Gallery. The Bandera Public Library is located at 515 Main Street.
