Rutherford returns as fire marshal

After resigning from the position last October, Jason Rutherford returned to the position of Bandera County Fire Marshal on December 1.

The Bandera County Commissioners approved a bond for Rutherford’s position in a two-year term during their regular meeting on Dec. 8.

Commissioner Jody Rutherford, Jordan’s father, abstained from the vote, which was otherwise unanimous.

Following a restructuring of the position in November, Rutherford will now report to the sheriff and communicate with all Bandera County volunteer fire departments and related agencies.

Commissioner Jack Mosley told the Bulletin Sheriff Butts received multiple applications for the role and hired the person he felt best fit the role.

The Bulletin reached out to Jason Rutherford for comment but did not hear back by press time.
