DOUGLAS EUGENE KING

Douglas Eugene King, 68, of Bandera, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

Doug was born on October 18, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas to Katherine and Van King.

Doug served as County Commissioner of Bandera County Precinct 4 from 2003-2014. He also helped found the Vanderpool Volunteer Fire Department and served as fire chief from 1994-2014. Doug was very passionate about serving his community. He spent many years as a locksmith and a dish network retailer/installer. Doug enjoyed collecting classic cars and collectors’ coins.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Van King, and his daughter, Jennifer King.

He was survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Anders Nelson, his son Phillip King, his daughter, Sarah King, his brother, Gaylon King, his sisters Carolyn and JoAnn King, his grandchildren, Niles, Lily, Minerva, Cambria, Jameson, and Edna Nelson, and Zoey, Lena, and Charles Richter, and his uncle, Curtis Langston.

Funeral and graveside services were held on February 12, 2022, at the Vanderpool Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel.
