HORTENSIA CANADA
Hortensia Canada, formerly of Pipe Creek, Texas, and Humacao, Puerto Rico, passed away on August 7th, 2021, peacefully in her sleep, at her home surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Bolivar Peninsula in late October.
She was born on October 22nd, 1933, in Humacao, Puerto Rico, to Crispulo Rodriguez and Marianna Castro Rodriguez. After graduating from Humacao High School in June of 1952, she attended Radford College in Radford, Virginia, and the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. She joined the United States Navy in 1959 and served 18 months before meeting the love of her life. She married Edward H. Canada, Jr. on April 29th, 1960, in San Diego, California.
While enjoying their retirement, they travelled by RV full time for five years, then the next five years spending summers in Ruidoso, New Mexico, and winters in Pipe Creek, Texas. They settled in Pipe Creek, Texas, until Edward’s passing in August of 2015. Hortense moved to Montgomery, Texas, with her daughter where she spent her remaining years with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Edward H. Canada, Jr., her parents, and her seven siblings. She is survived by her son, Stanley John Canada, of San Antonio, Texas; her daughter and son in law, Marianna and Alan Lambrecht of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren, Hunter Wayne Thompson, Kyle Edward Lambrecht, Michelle Canada Arredondo, and Kaitlin Rose Lambrecht; and, great grandchildren, Beaux Hunter Cecil, Jax Alan Cecil, and Wells Aniston Lambrecht.
