Bulldogs triumph over Davenport
The Bandera Bulldogs triumphed over the Davenport Wolves on February 1 in a 53-49 victory, keeping pace with their opponent through three quarters until coming alive and pushing ahead by four points to bring home the win.
Both teams were giving 100 percent and the hustle on both sides was exciting to see.
The score at the end of the first quarter was Bandera 12 to Davenport’s 17. The pace of the first quarter established that the game was going to be fast and exciting.
The Bulldogs led by only one point at the end of the second quarter. Bulldogs had 28 to Davenports’ 27.
The score in the third quarter went back and forth by just a point or two as both teams fought hard to take the lead. Bulldogs tied the Wolves at 42 at the end of the quarter.
The Bulldogs bit the Wolves hard in the last quarter. The team seemed to sync up and the speed of the game picked up.
Ryan Perez sank a basket and the Bulldogs went ahead by two points. Noah Barnett put in two foul shots and took a hard charge. He weaved through the traffic in the lane to put two in the bucket.
At the two-minute mark, Bandera was 51 to Davenport’s 45. The Wolves made a crucial three-pointer to bring them up to 48 and went to the line for a foul shot. Gavin Ortiz drew a foul and put in one. The Bulldogs ended the game at 53 to Davenport’s 49.
The next home game was on Tuesday against the Fredericksburg Billies. Scores were not available at press time.
The Bulldogs will face Boerne on Friday, February 11, and finish district play at home against Wimberley on Tuesday, February 15.
