Runners place third in Islander Splash
On Saturday, September 17, in extreme heat and humidity, the Lady Bulldog Cross Country Team placed third as a team in the Islander Splash in Corpus Christi behind La Feria and Corpus Christi Tullosa Midway.
There were 54 teams and 334 runners in total competing in the 4A-and-under race.
The Lady Bulldogs were led by Raelynn Butler, who placed second overall. Raelynn ran most of the race in third place until the last 1200 meters and pulled ahead of the young lady from Sinton to secure the silver medal.
Hannah Edwards also helped lead the Lady Bulldogs by medaling and placing eighth.
The other Lady Bulldogs that scored points for the team were sophomore Gracie Bankston, who placed 37th, sophomore Emily Presa, who was 58th, and freshman Kierstin Brown, who placed 64th.
Other Varsity finishers were sophomore Trinity Butler, who was 70th, Junior Danielle Gonzales who finished 71st, Makayla Gonzales, who was 121st, sophomore Carlye Niccum, who was 126th, and freshman Jazlyn Dickerson, who placed 200th.
