“We are the second most flashflood-prone area in the world, and our community has a state-of-the-art flood early warning system that continues to improve,” said Dave Mauk, general manager of the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District, at a public meeting on the system on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
The session showed residents how to use online tools to look at models of actual and potential flooding scenarios on the Medina River that include timelines describing how fast floodwaters are moving down the river so residents can make timely evacuation plans.
