I’m sorry to see the efforts of our state government to find reasons to oppose the expansion of mail-in voting.
The argument that it leads to voter fraud has not been confirmed by numerous studies. The more hidden argument, that it favors Democrats, has not been confirmed either.
Apparently voting by mail increases turnout but benefits both parties equally.
So, especially now, when virus fears might well suppress voter turnout, why can’t we make it not only easier but safer to vote?
It’s ironic that our Republican leaders oppose this step for political reasons that aren’t even valid.
