Appraisal district gives refunds to county taxing entities
The Bandera Central Appraisal District (CAD) announced earlier this week that their 2020 financial audit has been completed. The audit showed the district decreased its overall expenditures and came in under budget for 2020.
“The appraisal district faced many challenges last year, including overcoming a deficit of $24,254.08 reflected in the 2019 financial audit,” said Shawn Davis, Chief Appraiser.
“After receiving our 2020 financial audit, the appraisal district is pleased to announce that we are refunding the taxing entities of Bandera County a total of $202,836.56”, said Davis.
According to a release from the CAD, the refunds were allocated based on each entity’s portion of the District’s 2020 budget.
The taxing entities for Bandera County receiving a refund are: Bandera County, Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District, Bandera Independent School District, City of Bandera, Flying ‘L’ Ranch Public Utility District, Medina Independent School District, Northside Independent School District, Utopia Independent School District, and Utopia/Vanderpool Area ESD #1.
“Our 2021 Approved Budget is a 5.98 percent reduction from the 2020 Approved Budget,” continued Davis.
“Our goal is to continue to be good stewards of public funds and to continue working toward becoming more accurate and efficient in our daily responsibilities while responding to the growth and projected future of the county,” said Davis.
“We are conscious of the difficulties that some of our county residents may face and we will continue assisting our property owners to the best of our abilities, while complying with the requirements set by the State,” read a release from the CAD.
The appraisal district office is located at: 1206 Main Street, Bandera. Their phone number is 830-796-3039. They are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
