Nagel’s Lakehills clinic reopening
The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic has announced the reopening of their Nagel Clinic at Lakehills, which has been shuttered since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the temporary closing of the Lakehills Community Center.
Located in what is arguably the most populous area of Bandera County, the branch clinic will again operate inside the Lakehills Community Center on the first and third Mondays of each month starting on June 7 from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The Lakehills Community Center is located at 11225 PR 37, in Lakehills near the shores of Medina Lake.
“With the rate of COVID-19 vaccinations increasing each week, our friends on the Board of Directors of the Lakehills Community Center have decided to reopen to the public and we are so pleased to be offering no-cost health care services to families in Pipe Creek, Bandera Falls, and
Lakehills who can again receive care much closer to where they live,” said Nagel Clinic Executive Director, Chuck Lutke.
“We urge existing patients and others in the area needing care to call the Clinic in Bandera at (830) 796-3448 to set up an appointment for the Nagel Clinic at Lakehills,” he said.
To be eligible to receive services, all Nagel Clinic patients must provide documented proof of identity, residency in Bandera County and family income at or below 250 percent of the federal poverty level.
Since the founding of the Nagel Clinic in 2008, medical services have been provided without charge due to funding from foundations, corporations, congregations, civic groups and individuals.
Lakehills Community Center Board President, Kelly Beedle, shared her excitement about the Clinic’s return to the Lakehills area.
“We are very happy about this restart as well,” she said.” This medical service is beneficial to our community at many levels. We look forward to resuming our partnership with the Nagel Clinic to provide this important service to our neighbors.”
Space for the Nagel Clinic’s services at Lakehills is provided by the Community Center.
A new medical exam bed was donated to the Nagel Clinic for the Lakehills location in 2019 by St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Bandera.
Founded in Bandera, in 2008, the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic is the only nonprofit provider of lowcost primary and preventive healthcare for low-income, medically underserved Bandera County residents ages 12 and older.
In addition, the clinic provides integrated behavioral health services (mental health counseling), prescription assistance, and healthy lifestyle classes.
Over the past thirteen years, the Nagel Clinic has treated 2,700 unduplicated patients with 18,900 separate medical and health education services.
