Bandera Library Happenings
Have you heard the news? The library has recently become a Fine Free Library.
This means no more fees for turning books in late. Now the Bandera Library has joined the other thousands of libraries around the world who have eliminated late fees.
The change was made to make the library more accessible to every member of our community. Based on data from the last twenty years, late fees are not very effective at getting people to return their books on time. Late fees are, however, very good at keeping people from low-income backgrounds and children from using their public library.
All fines are being forgiven as long as you turn in your book.
If you lose it, or if Rover took a big chomp out it, we will still charge you to replace it. We will also provide a place if you need to clear your con science with a donation in lieu of paying a late fee.
Our first ever Pumpkin Decorating Contest starts next week.
Kids and teens can come by starting Wednesday, September 15, to pick up a small pumpkin at the library and decorate it like a character in a book. Decorated pumpkins are due October 15.
We will have voting in person and online. The winner will be announced on October 29 and will receive a gift card to Snowflake Donuts.
If you want to enter your own pumpkin into the contest just submit a picture of the child with their pumpkin to banderalibrarycirculation@gmail. com.

The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services.
Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Masks are recommended while in the library building.
