Bandera Library Happenings
On behalf of everyone here at the Bandera Public Library have a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving! The Library will be closed for the holiday from Thursday until Sunday and will reopen for our normal hours on Monday, November 29 th at 9 a.m. If you’re nervous about not having easy access to books over a long weekend now is a great time to get set up with our eBooks and audiobooks. Your library card gets you access to thousands of digital reads and listens through the Libby app. Ask a librarian to help you get connected.
Monday, November 29, at 10 a.m. our weekly watercolor class is meeting in the Downstairs Meeting room. This class is for all ages and supplies are available. Pokémon League meets the same day at 4:30 p.m.
Thursday, December 2, at noon the Monthly Book Club will be hosting their annual holiday luncheon in lieu of a meeting. If you are interested in joining this group, contact the library to get more information. You can also pick up a copy of the reading list for 2022 here at the library.
The holidays are in full swing and this is the perfect time to stop by the Library to pick up some cozy Christmas themed books and movies. Saturday, December 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. is the Monthly Book Fair hosted by the Friends of the Library. Do not miss this event as it will be a convenient way to scratch everyone off your Christmas shopping list. All the books, music and movies are available by donation and are either new or almost new. Your donation goes to support the Library.
New titles this week include the much-anticipated final installment in the “Outlander” book series.
Additionally, Diana Gabaldon’s “Go Tell the Bees that I am Gone” comes out this week. Claire and Jamie Fraser are once again faced with the realities of war. Set during the American Revolution, the book follows a brave and beautiful Claire who is able to travel through time. She lives in two realities: her proper time in the 20 th century and her life in the 1770s with the love of her life.
James Fraser had hoped to retreat to the North Carolina backcountry in order to avoid the ravages of war and keep his family safe. But his experiences in the Jacobite Uprisings in Scotland have taught him that the desperation of war can never truly be escaped. All he and Claire can hope for is that their shared strength and knowledge of what lies ahead is enough to see them safely through the war.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7.
