Lions club recognized for Halloween display
At the City Council meeting on September 7, the Bandera Lions Club received the 2021 Marshal’s Office Award for their Halloween display they orchestrated for the Nightmare on Maple Street Halloween event at Bandera City Park on October 31.
Marshal Will Dietrich presented a wooden pumpkin plaque award and commemorated the Bandera Lions Club for their extraordinary efforts in presenting a phenomenal experience at the Nightmare on Maple Street eventgoers.
Terry West has been the Chairman over the Nightmare on Maple project since the beginning for the past four years.
She plans and works on it for months before the event. This year’s display featured a creative walkthrough maze rife with a cemetery, witches, spooky wonderments and handout treats. The entire display was bedazzled with dark and creepy ghouls around each corner.
Marshal Dietrich thanked the Lions Club for their hard work, planning, and time spent on the event, adding they still managed to top what they had presented at last year’s event.
“Hereafter, the Marshal’s Office Award will be known as the Lions Club Award and will be presented to the individual or group who goes above and beyond to make Nightmare on Maple Street the scariest, family-friendly event in the Hill Country”, said Marshal Dietrich.
The Lions Club is an international charitable organization that has been actively working to improve the lives of all people for over 100 years.
“We love serving our community and 100% of our funds from donations and fundraisers goes back into our community,” exclaimed Bandera Lions Club President Rene Leith.
