Conrad’s holding grand opening next Saturday

Conrad’s Coffee, Guns and Cigars is having its Grand Opening on Saturday, January 29, from 12-4 p.m. at the store located at 125 Bandera Boulevard just off Highway 173 North. T

he grand opening celebration will feature $10 barbeque plates cooked by local pitmaster David Barnett, all proceeds from which will benefit the Bandera Fire Department. The Fire Department vehicles will also be on display for the event.

The celebration will also feature a raffle for several handguns: a Century Arms AP5 9MM, a Smith and Wesson Victory Target 22LR and a H & K P30 9MM. Raffle tickets are $20 and only 500 tickets will be sold. Tickets may be purchased at Conrad’s Coffee, Guns and Cigars, which is open from 10 AM until 7 PM on Friday and Saturday; and from 12-4 PM on Sunday. The raffle guns are on display at the store.

Owner Conrad Berube is a Bandera High School graduate and Navy veteran. Berube credits his time in the Navy for teaching him the necessary skills for security work. After the Navy, Berube used the GI Bill to get an Associate’s Degree.

“I have wanted to do a benefit for the fire department and wanted to have a Grand Opening. So, this celebration kills two birds with one stone,” he said.

Berube opened the store for just two days a week to start, but as time has gone by, he began opening on Friday and hopes to expand to Thursday. Berube’s store has been open a little more than a year.

The warm atmosphere and knowledgeable service make the store a great place to spend some time. There is a wide variety of firearms on display, enough to entrance any enthusiast. Manager Frank Weaver, a career Army veteran, is available to help customers find just the right product to suit their needs.

Berube wants the store to be a place where everyone feels welcome and old timers can come in to just visit. He has some great stories about his time in the Navy. He has traveled extensively in the Middle East and Far East during his military service.

As a local business owner, Berube has supported the community and feels Bandera is his home. He invites everyone to come out to the Grand Opening to meet him and enjoy an afternoon full of good food and fun benefitting the Bandera Fire Department.
