ANTHONY “TONY” WAYNE LESTOURGEON

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Anthony “Tony” Wayne LeStourgeon at the age of 52 on March 25, 2022. Tony is survived by his father Cecil W. LeStourgeon and Jo Anne LeStourgeon; his sons Corey Wayne LeStourgeon , his wife Mandy, grandchildren Caliyah Wes and Kennedy Tate LeStourgeon; Aaron Anthony LeStourgeon and his wife, Deanna, grandchildren Jackson James and Sawyer Hayes LeStourgeon; Matthew Drake LeStourgeon and his wife Casyn, grandchildren Ira James and Jacob Jude LeStourgeon; and daughter Delaney Rene’ LeStourgeon; his sisters Connie LeStourgeon Sinclair and husband David, Lori Jane Heide and husband Steven of Oregon, and Donna LeStourgeon. An extensive list of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, nephews and nieces on both sides of the family; his longtime childhood friend Mike Frazier of McAllen and dearest companion Darla Thomas of Oregon; Army friend Len Bradford of Clinton, Arkansas. Tony’s mother, Annette Teich LeStourgeon, had passed September 15, 2007.

Tony was born in San Antonio, Texas March 1, 1970; Cecil and Annette would move to Bandera in Tony’s toddler years where he became a longtime resident, attending Bandera Schools from Kindergarten through the years before graduating from Medina High School in 1988.

After High School, Tony joined the U.S. Army which he served proudly for 11 years. After basic training at Fort Benning, GA, Tony joined his cohorts and became a member of the 7th Infantry Division as a Light Infantryman at Fort Ord, CA. During this time, he attended the Jungle Operations Training Center at Fort Sherman, Panama; From there he went to Fort Campbell, KY where he served extensively with the Alpha Gators of the 2nd - 327th division as well as the Rakkasans of the 3rd -187th division; He earned his Expert Infantry Badge along with several Accommodation Medals for meritorious conduct as a soldier and leadership of his squad and platoon. His overseas tours consisted of Korea and Saudi Arabia. From there he was a US Army Recruiter in Phoenix, Arizona before returning to the Infantry field at Fort Drum, NY where he served with the 10th Mountain Division learning the art of mountain training before returning to his hometown of Bandera with his family.

In 2001, The LeStourgeon Masonry legacy was continued by Tony, alongside his dad Cecil, in the upcoming years in beautifying many of Bandera’s buildings and houses as well surrounding counties with his exceptional rock work. He later moved to the Oregon Coast where he was able to leave traces of his handy work there before returning to Texas recently. He was always very active with his kids’ sports coaching them from the Bandera County Flag Football League to Bandera Little League as well as Medina Little League and providing a helping hand within the community when needed.

Tony will no doubt be missed for his generous heart, his kindness to the stranger next to him, and undying love for his country. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in his children from this day on.

The family would like for you to join them in a farewell to Tony and celebrate his life at the White Rock Christian Fellowship at 473 Old San Antonio Rd., Bandera, TX, April 9 at 1:00 P.M. Thereafter, military honors will commence at the Medina Oaks Cemetery in Medina, TX.
