Five new GOP precinct chairs elected, two
Editor’s Note: The Bulletin reached out to all the precinct chair candidates on the ballot, and has published responses received by press time. We will continue to publish post-election statements as we receive them.
Unofficial results from the Bandera County Elections department list Kenneth P. Denney (Precinct 102), Brandi Conover (Precinct 203), Joe Kitzman (Precinct 305), Cammie Burger Morgan (Precinct 306) and Elisa Greene (Precinct 407) as new Bandera Republican Party Precinct Chairs.
Additionally, incumbent Laura Briscoe (Precinct 101), incumbent Deanna Skoglund (Precinct 408), Kevin Holdsworth (Precinct 409) and Rebecca Gring (Precinct 410) were elected after running unopposed for Precinct Chairs.
Cammie Burger Morgan received 190 votes to incumbent Rene Leith’s 69.
“I am so thankful to all of the Republican Precinct 306 voters who supported me during the election,” said Cammie Burger Morgan. “Your support and confidence in me are greatly appreciated and I look forward to serving as Republican Precinct 306 Chair for the next two years. This has been a humbling experience and you all have my sincere gratitude and thanks. Finally, I would like to ask all of you who are inclined to do so to please pray for the families, students, teachers, and all those affected by the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Our fellow Texans need us.”
Greene received 292 votes to Bob Haueter’s 167.
“I am honored and thankful to be elected Precinct Chair 407. Congratulations to those who won their Precinct Chair seats,” said Greene. “Their opponents fought well and are invaluable assets to our community. Many thanks to those who boosted my race by making banners, posters, signs, passing out fliers, getting my name out and also the support of my family and friends. I love our community and I am looking forward to serving Bandera County!”
Conover received 181 votes to Cheri Krieg’s 91.
“I want to thank all of my community in Precinct 203 Bandera County for your votes! Much love and prayers to my family, friends and neighbors, and to all the voters who honked, thumbs up or told me they voted for me because I was out at the library waving our Beautiful American flag on Election Day,” said Conover. “I look forward to working as part of the Bandera County Republican Party, with incoming Chairman Conrad “Butch” Striegl and the new and incumbent other 9 Precinct Chairs that make up the County Executive Committee (CEC). I am beyond excited to continue to serve Lakehills and Bandera County in this capacity.”
Kitzman received 230 votes to incumbent Darcy Hasty’s 173.
Denney received 181 votes to incumbent Patricia Miller’s 168.
In a statement emailed to the Bulletin, incoming party chair Conrad Striegl said he “is looking forward to working for all of you.”
“I take office on the 13th of June,” Striegl said. “As I look at this country and talk to the residence of this county I hear anger, distrust, and a sense of abandonment. I want all of you to know we hear you. We pledge openness and transparency. We have already developed a plan to fight back against those that would destroy our way of life. It will not be easy and will take all of us to succeed. I will publish this plan after I take office and go to work for you and our way of life. As an Army veteran of over 27 years of military service I understand what it takes to win, and I am willing to make the commitment.”
Streigl won his race unopposed and replaces Lynn Haueter, who did not seek re-election.
“I want to congratulate all of the newly elected precinct chairs. My hope and prayer for all of them would be that they would hold their statutory duty very seriously and seek to follow all laws of Texas and all bylaws and rules of our Texas Republican Party,” said Haueter. “I hope they demand truth and honesty from themselves and their leaders. Our local party is at a critical turning point with all of the (unnecessary ) upheaval that has transpired over the past few months. It will be these individuals that will either lead in ways that build up or tear down. I hope it is the former and we see a positive and effective party structure that will continue to grow and keep our county bright red.”
