Bandera Library Happenings
Whoa nelly! It is June and talk about having a busy month! As the summer temperatures heat up, come by the library to take part in the many wonderful activities taking place this month and stay in the nice, cool air conditioning.
Tomorrow, June 2. at 10 a.m. is our Monthly Book Club meeting. They will be discussing “Crocodile on the Sandbank” by Elizabeth Peters. The group meets the first Thursday of every month to discuss a novel. If you would like to join in on the fun, stop by the library to get a copy of the reading schedule for the rest of the year.
Saturday, June 4, is our Monthly Book Fair hosted by the Friends of the Library. There is a lot more than books available. Each fair has CDs, audiobooks, records, rare books and even puzzles. Stop by any time between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to pick up something great. Everything is available by donation – however much you can give. Your donation will go straight to supporting the library.
Saturdays, our Dungeons and Dragons group also meets at 9:30 a.m. in the Downstairs Meeting Room. All are welcome to join in the role-playing adventure game!
Tuesday, June 7, is also a busy day. The Summer Reading Program kicks off at 10 a.m. Kids aged 5 to 12 come in for fun activities designed to encourage them to keep reading all summer long. This year’s theme in Oceans of Possibilities featuring books and stories about the ocean. You can register your kids in person or online at https://banderacountylibrary.org/summer-2022 .
Tuesday, June 7, at 5:30 p.m. is the first in a series of guest lectures presented in collaboration with the Frontier Times Museum. Join Rebecca Norton, director of the Frontier Times Museum as she presents “The Forgotten Cowboy: Hollywood Myths and Trail-driving Truths.”
Ms. Norton will be separating fact from fiction in the history of the cowboy. Space is limited so be sure to reserve a seat. The presentation will be in the Downstairs Meeting Room and light refreshments will be served.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Check out our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information.
