County receives safety award
On May 26 at the regular Bandera County Commissioner’s Court meeting, Victor White, Risk Management Consultant with the Texas Association of Counties (TAC). presented the 2021 Safety Award to Bandera County.
Bandera County earned the Safety Achievement Award from the TAC risk management pool.
The award was earned due to the county’s commitment to safety in the workplace, which in turn, kept their claims down.
“By keeping your claims down, it keeps your cost down, saving taxpayer money and reduction of contributions to the TAC pool,” said White.
Bandera County was one of 17 counties to receive this award, of which there are 400 members, each having workman’s comp coverage with the TAC.
“This is due to your ongoing safety plans,” White explained. “Y’all are active in training. I want to thank the commissioners and other elected officials for allowing us to come train. Big shout out to Sharon, HR, for helping us set up a lot of the meetings.”
Due to Bandera County’s practices, money paid into the TAC from 2021 was distributed back through the Safety Equipment Program, whereby the Road & Bridge Department received $2,118 and the Sheriff’s Department received $2,118.
The TAC was able to return a total of $4,236 back to Bandera County to use for safety equipment.
