Uvalde BBQ benefit sells out of plates
A BBQ plate sale from Pipe Creek Eats food truck benefitting Uvalde families sold out last Sunday, with proceeds going to the First State Bank of Uvalde’s Robb School Memorial Fund.
“My connection to Uvalde is my brother. He is a Uvalde CISD employee.” said Pete Rodriguez, Owner and Operator of Pipe Creek Eats, whose food truck is located at 10915 Hwy 16 S.
Tuesday, May 24, was a difficult day for him. I felt I needed to do something for him and these families.
Before Sunday arrived, donations came in from local businesses such as Frito Lay San Antonio, Almacenes de Tejas and the Knights of Columbus Council 6641 from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, Texas.
Pipe Creek Eats partnered with other organizations such as Extreme Texas Tailgate, Holy Cross High School Alums, Providence High School Alumnae and many family members and friends to help prep, cook and serve during last Sunday’s event.
Furthermore, Fat Boys Entertainment provided DJ services for the day’s event.
“ I want to thank all the businesses and organizations that donated items and gave their time and to all the people who came out to support us and bought plates,” said Rodriguez. “My goal was to help raise money for the Uvalde families and we did it! We sold 1,000 plates. I am so grateful that this event was a huge success.”
Pipe Creek Eats is owned and operated by Pete and Marcella Rodriguez, who have over 30 years of experience in the food industry operating SA Catering Conxepts LLC. They are residents who serve Pipe Creek, San Antonio and surrounding areas.
