Fundraiser benefits horse
Bandera Historical Rides is hosting a fundraiser for Smiley, one of its horses who suffered a life-threatening medical emergency requiring surgery.
As of this writing, Smiley remains hospitalized, but is improving and expected to recover. Hundreds of people have followed Smiley’s journey and have been praying for her recovery.
Her amazing personal story will be documented and shared with her supporters both at the gathering and on social media.
The fundraiser will take place at Major Hope Corral, 749 Old Medina Highway, home to Bandera Historical Rides, its horses and its owners, Harriet Stewart and Tom Lamonica.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., attendees can enjoy barbecue plates, listen to live music, and meet the horses who faithfully carry riders in and around Bandera every day.
Local businesses and individuals are donating products, services, artwork and more to be offered in a silent auction.
There may be other events yet to be added as planning continues. Volunteers are needed to help at the event as well as in the days leading up-.Try it! It feels good to help.
Anyone wishing to volunteer may contact Nancy Scott at 830- 330-0033. We have set up a bank account at Hondo National Bank at 355 Highway 16, across from the Bandera Ranch Store. You can drop by or call to make a donation to the Major Hope Corral account.
There is also a Go Fund Me page on Facebook where you can donate through PayPal.
Our goal is to bring Bandera together in the way it does best: helping one of our own.
See you at the ranch on Saturday, July 9!
