IRVIN ERNST LINDNER
Irvin Ernst Lindner, age 90 passed away peacefully on July 23, 2022. He was born in Comfort, TX on September 30, 1931. His family moved to Bandera, TX where he grew up and spent his childhood. He graduated from Bandera High School where he excelled in all sports, basketball and baseball in particular. Irvin served his country in the United States Air Force. He played baseball on the Air Force baseball team as catcher. Later he went on to be drafted by the Baltimore Orioles professional baseball team but his tenure there cut short by knee injuries. After his time in the military, Irvin worked at Pearl Brewing Company for 20 years. In 1973, he began working at Overhead Door Company of San Antonio. In 1985, at the age of 53 when most people are winding down their careers, Irvin started GARAGE DOOR REPAIR CO.. His company, almost 40 years later, is run by his family of 2nd and 3rd generations. He worked on garage doors into his 80’s. He always said “it wasn’t work if you loved your job”. Irvin was healthy, lived on his own and had an excellent quality of life until a stroke took him. We will miss him, his joke telling, his easy going nature, his love for sports and Papillon dogs.
Irvin is survived by his daughters: Diana Paxson (Pace Talley) of Boerne, TX; Brenda Osorio (Brandon) of San Antonio, TX. Grandchildren: Kolten Paxson, Kayla Nickles, Jamie Nickles, Danny Osorio, Manuel Osorio and Samanta Osorio. His brother: Lawrence Lindner (Mary) of Bandera, TX, and his Papillon “Red”. Services were held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in Shelter #1 on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.. A reception for his friends and family to visit and celebrate him will follow at Canyon Springs Golf Course Clubhouse @ 24405 Wilderness Oak from 12:30
