Bobcats on fire at home, remain undefeated
The Medina football team is running hard and fast in the 20222023 season, adding another shutout to their list of accolades this year.
Last Friday, The Medina Bobcats steamrolled Our Lady of the Hills 48-0 in a game that was stopped at halftime under the mercy rule, extending their record to 3-0.
The Bobcats had four touchdowns in the first quarter and another two in the second quarter before the game was called.
Coach Mark Coley said the team was solid and getting better and more confident as it starts a five-week road trip.
“The defense did not allow a first down, and the game was called. The Bobcat offense was hitting on all cylinders as they scored six touchdowns, four by pass and two on the ground. They converted all six extra point attempts,” Coley said.
Quarterback Wyatt Boatman went seven of nine for 143 yard, four touchdowns and one interception.
Dawson Simons and Briton Wickham had two touchdowns apiece, with Simons nabbing two catches for 46 yards and Wickham catching three for 47.
Davis Briley, TJ DeLeon and Diane Grabs each had one catch.
Will Derry and DeLeon each brought in a rushing touchdown, with Derry gaining 12 yards with three carries and DeLeon’s single carry clocking in at six yards.
Boatman had one 24-yard carry. Defensively, DeLeon had four solo tackles and three assists; Britton Wickham had three solo tackles and three assists; and Will Derry had two solo tackles and one assist.
