Museum gala celebrates 70s

Dust off those platform shoes, squeeze into those old bell bottoms and celebrate the Me Decade at this year’s Frontier Times Museum Fall Gala.

The museum’s annual fundraiser will be held this year at 7:00 p.m. on October 28th at The Farm Country Club, 475 Pue Road.

“This is our main fundraiser for the museum,” said Rebecca Norton, Executive Director for the Frontier Times Museum. “We do not receive any public funding for operations, so we rely heavily on this event to help us throughout the year. The funds we raise from our Gala give us operational support so we can provide educational programming and exhibits.”

Programs offered by the museum include free history lectures, field trips for area students and a free Traveling History Trunk program where trunks filled with historical artifacts are used by schoolteachers.

Silent auction items include artwork, gifts, leather goods from Wild Goose in Ingram, a necklace and money clip from Hyo Silver and unique experiences such as pottery classes and hypnosis sessions.

The live auction items include a framed G. Harvey print, a private photo session with Mood Swings Photography, and a variety of trips to a Lake Charles Casino, St. Croix, Mexico, Jackson Hole Wyoming, Tuscany, Bali and a Top Gun experience in Arizona.

“The museum is proud to have Joe and Cindy McMullan, McMullan Insurance, Hyo Silver, Good Times Ranch, Western Trail Antique Mall, Falling Rock Ranch, and Lynn and John Palmer of Custom Glass and Mirror as this year’s Gala sponsors,” read a release from the museum.

Black Tie Affair Catering from San Antonio will create tasting stations throughout the event. Music provided by MishMash. Tickets are still available at $85 per person or $680 for tables of eight and may be purchased at the Frontier Times Museum, 510 13th Street, or at the door the night of the event.
