Author and musician Kinky Friedman signs a framed poster for a fan last Saturday at the Spirits of Texas store on Cypress Street. Friedman was at the store for his birthday, which had officially happened four days prior on Nov. 1. The onetime independent candidate for governor signed autographs, spoke with fans and took photos from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. while music and food and other birthday celebrations were held.
