Charity organizer stepping down
After agreeing to stay on one more year in 2021, Fred “Doc” Cox said he will step down from running the Frogs for Freedom event, which has raised money for families and children of fallen veterans.
Cox said things will now be run by the Frogmen MotorcycleClub of Texas, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be involved in the charity ride event.
Frogs for Freedom specifically raises money for families of fall SEAL tea members and Special Warfare Combat Crewman (SWCC).
Last month’s event was headquartered at 11th Street Cowboy Bar raised $65,000, which Cox said was the most since its inception.
“By comparison we raised 38,000 during COVID in 2020,” he told the Bulletin, adding the event has raised nearly $400,000 in 12 years.
October 25’s event featured group motorcycle rides in the surrounding hill country area, live music, dancing and BBQ.
