As required by state law, County Sheriff Dan Butt presented the Sheriff Department’s 2022 racial profiling report to the Bandera County Commissioners’ Court on February 23.Butts reported the department made 412 traffic stops involving 134 females and 278 males last year.The ethnicity breakdown was one Asian/Pacific Islander, 14 Black, 319 White and 78 Hispanic.From the 412 stops, 78 searches were conducted.According to Butts’ report, reasons for the search were consent (37 times), probable cause (29 times), inventory (six times), incident to arrest (five times) and one instance of contraband.During the 78 searches, contraband was discovered 48 times.Butts said the found ...
