Bandera Library Happenings
The library will be closed on Monday, May 29, in observance of Memorial Day. On behalf of everyone here at the library, we hope you have a wonderful day spent with friends and family celebrating our freedom. Please do take time to honor those brave folks who have laid down their lives in service to our country. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 30, at 9 a.m.
Also on Tuesday, May 30, is the Adult Basic Computer Skills Class. We have several computers to learn on in the Downstairs Meeting Room or you can bring your laptop and learn directly onto your device. This class is for absolute beginners and will be kept small so all of your questions can be answered. Don’t let technology intimidate you! We can help you learn how to use a computer with confidence.
The kids are out of school soon and it is finally time for Summer Reading Program! We are delighted to announce the theme for this year’s program is “All Together Now” and will feature books and projects centered around kindness. You can register at the library or on our website www.banderalibrary. org. The kiddos will also have another reason to the library. The Library’s Native Plant Garden Committee is installing a vegetable garden and we want little ones to use the opportunity to get outside and get their hands in the dirt. When you stop by the library, check on the Garden To-Do list and do a small chore. There’s always something to do in the garden: watering, weeding, mulching. The Bandera General Store has agreed to give a free scoop of ice cream to any kiddo who does a little work in the garden. Stop by or call the library for more information.
Thankfully, the spring rains have really given our garden a much-needed drink and our native plant garden has begun taking off. I would like take this opportunity to thank the Medina Garden Nursery for donated 30 plants to our native plant garden and TX Design Landscapers who donated prepared soil. The local pollinators are loving it!
June is quickly approaching so be sure to keep June 1st at 10 a.m. open for the Monthly Book Club meeting. The group will be discussing “The Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck. I you’d like to join the group, contact the library for more details. Saturday, June 3rd is the Monthly Book Fair hosted by the Friends of the Library. We have a ton of new stuff in stock so come by for new and gently used books, movies, and CDs. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.!
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is still available for checkouts and business services.
