RUSTY (JAMES) DOWDA JR.

Rusty (James) Dowda Jr., 62, of Pipe Creek, passed away on May 28, 2023, in Pipe Creek. He was born in San Antonio to James Dowda Sr. and Anna Lee Edwards on December 20, 1960. He married Sharon Edwards on June 8, 1985, in San Antonio. He enjoyed everything car related, attending his grandsons’ sporting events, and was an avid BBQ enthusiast.

He was a 1979 graduate of John Marshall High School in San Antonio. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Texas Equipment for 25 years. He went into business for himself as a handyman and was currently working for Flying L POA.

Rusty is preceded in death by father, James Dowda Sr. and sister, Brenda Lee Dowda Jackson.

Rusty is survived by wife Sharon Dowda; daughter Brittany Dowda, son Bryce Dowda; brother Jeff Dowda and wife Kerry, stepsister Jeanine Botos and husband Istvan; mother and stepfather, Anna Lee and John Tucker; grandsons Julian Valdez, Jordan Mickolas, and Samson Dowda; aunt Jimmie Ruth Saathoff; brother- in-law Terry Edwards and wife Carey, sister-in-law Wendy Barton and husband Toby; nephews Paul Jackson Jr. and wife Heather, Casey Edwards and wife Nicole, Cade Edwards, and Brandon Barton; nieces Christa Smith and husband Greg, Ashley O’Kelley and husband Stephen, Casie Lee Jackson, Kristi Dowda, Courtney Dowda, and Brileigh Barton; and numerous uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held July 2, 2023, at 2pm at Pipe Creek Community Center located at the intersection of Hwy 16 S and FM 1283 in Pipe Creek, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bandera County EMS and Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
