LOU JACKSON

Lou Jackson was born on July 19, 1934 and passed away at home on Nov. 19, 2023 surrounded by family.

In loving memory of my husband of nearly 65 years I am sharing with you some of our life together.

He grew up and attended school in Medina, graduating in 1952 and had fond memories of living on the ranch raising cows, pigs, goats and of riding horses almost everywhere he went. Lou was offered a football scholarship to Rice Institute which is now Rice University. He studied at Rice for three years before he transferred to the University of Texas where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1957. I met Lou on a blind date in Tacoma, Washington while he was stationed at the Army Base in Fort Lewis. After he was honorably discharged I flew to Houston and three weeks later we were married in Spring, Texas.

His business acumen and engineering skills in the oil and gas industry allowed him to travel to many countries including Yemen, Iran, Germany, Australia and Columbia, as well as all over Texas. Before he retired in 1996 (after two heart attacks) he had started his own consulting business called Pipeline Engineering Service Company — PESCO for short.

Lou enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports on TV and dining out at La Casona, his favorite Mexican Restaurant. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in style by traveling around the world for 29 days visiting several countries.

We took many trips to Tacoma over the years. He enjoyed visiting with the many friends he had made there and the two fishing trips he took to Alaska with his Tacoma and Rosenberg fishing buddies.

My dear Louie, you’ve traveled many miles and deserve a Heavenly rest. Wait for me, I’ll be there one day. Lou was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jesse Jackson and brother-in-law, Dennis Anderson.

Remaining to cherish his memory are wife Shirley, son Glen, son Gary (also known as Chunky) and wife Gwen, daughter Cherie Vasquez and husband Marcelino, four grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Adam and Alan and four great-grandchildren, Evaline, Annabelle, Zoey and Olivia.

A special thanks to our son Glen for being such a wonderful caregiver to his dad.
