Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Bandera County is offering a food safety course for local food service employees on September 24, 2024, in response to updated Texas Food Establishment Rules (TFER).
The course, Food Safety: It’s In Your Hands, will take place at 9 a.m. at the Bandera County EMS Building, located at 4275 TX-16 South. This 1-2-hour course, accredited by the Texas Department of State Health Services, is now required for all food employees to help ensure safe food handling practices across the state.
It will cover essential topics such as personal hygiene, preventing cross-contamination, and managing food temperatures.
Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate valid for two years, applicable throughout Texas.
The cost for the course is $20 per person, with pre-registration required by September 20. To reserve a spot, call the Extension office at 830-796-7755. Seating is limited.
