Ten people gathered on the morning of Sept. 21 in Lakehills to walk a 2.2-mile route in support of The Trevor Project, a leading organization dedicated to ending LGBTQ+ youth suicide.
The event, sponsored by Lakehills United Methodist Church, raised $600 for the charity.
Starting and ending at the church, the walk was organized to raise awareness and funds for The Trevor Project, which provides suicide prevention and crisis intervention resources for LGBTQ+ young people.
Participants aimed to promote a message of support for LGBTQ+ youth facing mental health challenges.
The Trevor Project is known for offering life-saving services, including a 24/7 crisis hotline, online chat, and text support.
In addition to the funds raised, the event organizers encouraged participants and the wider community to continue supporting the cause.
“Together, we can help Trevor provide life-saving and life-affirming resources to LGBTQ+ young people and communities,” organizers said, urging people to join future fundraising efforts, make donations, or spread the word to family and friends.
