Peterson Health marked National Active Aging Week, held from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, by highlighting its growing Transitional Wellness Program, which helped seniors maintain active lifestyles.
The week-long observance promoted wellness and activity for people over 50.
The Transitional Wellness Program, based at the Peterson Health Wellness Center, supported more than 200 members with an average age of 75.
The program provided services such as vital monitoring, supplemental oxygen, and exercise education.
Personal trainers collaborated with physical and occupational therapists, as well as the cardiac rehab team, to offer personalized care that helped members maintain and build on their progress.
Since the center’s opening in October 2023, members of the program logged over 12,000 exercise sessions, with many attending two to three times a week for 45-minute sessions.
“Our Transitional Wellness Program was originally designed for post-therapy patients transitioning out of supervised rehab,” said Wellness Coordinator Jessica Kearns. “But it grew into a broader support system, offering increased mobility, function, and confidence, with some members even participating in local races. The social and emotional benefits were equally significant.”
