Sheriff Dan Butts told the Bandera County Commissioners Court Sept. 26 after delivery his monthly report that his department currently has six openings and interviewed three pepole.
“Hopefully, if we can get them through the process and get them hired before somebody else does, then we may have some people to replace the ones we’ve lost,” he said. “We’ll keep working on it.”
Regarding his report for August, Butts told the court the sheriff’s office had 485 calls for service and traveled 25,265 miles.
Their average response time for priority calls was 12 minutes and 56 seconds.
According to Butts, the department had eight felony arrests, five misdemeanor arrests, 32 agency assists, and 14 public assists.
They investigated 33 property crimes and 69 crimes against persons.
The sheriff’s office received 29 animal-related calls and were the primary responders 12 times in the City of Bandera.
Incoming and outgoing calls with Sheriff’s dispatch totaled 6,109. They had 922 incoming 911 calls.
They had two grand jury indictments, served 47 warrants, and two civil documents.
The department booked 47 people into jail, with an average inmate population of 49; of those, six were contract inmates.
The jail had 13 out-of-county transports.
