On Friday, Oct. 11, the Medina Bobcats and Lady Cats celebrated victories on the field and court, while also honoring several senior athletes.
Senior football player Cody Swinney, cheerleaders Ella Castillo, Hattie Barton, Sienna Carter, Brooke Mancha, Kaitlynn Forste, and cross country runner Ahnika Grassie were recognized.
The Lady Cats opened the day with a 4 p.m. volleyball match against the Knippa Lady Crushers.
After a close first set, Medina pulled ahead to win 25-20. They dominated the next two sets, winning 2514 and 25-18, improving to 3-1 in district play and 25-3 overall.
At 7 p.m., the Bobcats took on district rivals, the Nueces Canyon Panthers.
Despite the Panthers’ efforts to shift momentum, Medina held the lead throughout the game, securing a 58-30 victory.
Both teams return to action on Friday, Oct. 18.
The Lady Cats will host D’Hanis at 4 p.m., while the Bobcats travel to Menard for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
