The Lakehills Community Center will conclude its 2024 Family Activity Night (FAN) season with a celebration on Friday, October 25, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The popular program, which has been running for over four years, focuses on fostering family togetherness through engaging and educational activities.
Kelly Beedle, the Family Activity Chair, highlighted the program’s success throughout the year.
“One Friday night each month from January through September, these kids and their families have had fun enjoying various stimulating activities, learned, and grown together,” Beedle said. “They knew their participation was earning tools for their toolbox to be given out at the October Family Activity Night celebration.”
In 2024, participants explored a range of topics, including aerodynamics, hydraulics, electromagnetics, and lasers.
The program, which is free to the community, has been made possible through the hard work of volunteers and funding from events such as the Medina Lake Cajun Festival, as well as donations and grants.
A youth program grant from The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country and sponsorship from Lakehills True Value helped expand the program for kids in sixth through twelfth grade.
Families have taken part in hands-on activities such as beeswax candle making, drones, and magnetic levitation, fostering both participation and a deeper understanding of STEM concepts.
On October 25, the wrap-up party will include the distribution of toolboxes at 7:15 p.m. to recognize the children’s involvement.
The Lakehills Community Center, a non-profit organization, serves families, seniors, and individuals with a variety of events.
