Members of the Major James Kerr Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) in Kerrville, Texas, came together for the DAR National Day of Service.
This year, the chapter focused on supporting deployed service members through the DAR Project Patriot Committee, which assists America’s military personnel and their families.
The chapter contributed to an ongoing initiative by making and collecting handmade baby blankets for units overseas.
In a special project for the Day of Service, members also organized care packages for the crew of the USS Dewey (DDG-105), a U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer.
An Amazon Wishlist was set up to help chapter members purchase items for the care packages, which were shipped along with handwritten cards expressing gratitude.
The USS Dewey, part of the Navy’s 7th Fleet, is forward- deployed from Japan and serves as part of Destroyer Squadron 15, the Navy’s largest squadron.
The 7th Fleet plays a crucial role in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region through cooperation with allies and partners. “The Major James Kerr Chapter remains dedicated to supporting our military, both at home and abroad,” the chapter stated, emphasizing its continued commitment to military service members.
The DAR is one of the largest women’s service organizations in the world, with 190,000 members across 3,000 chapters.
Membership is open to any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
