A Doggie 4 You, a nonprofit dog rescue in Pipe Creek, announced a successful fundraising campaign during Big Give SA 2024, thanks to overwhelming community support.
The rescue received a $14,500 matching grant from an anonymous donor to replace two failing commercial HVAC units, but public donations surpassed the challenge, allowing the organization to replace a third unit as well.
On Tuesday, Oct.8, Two Brothers AC began installing the three new HVAC units in the dog buildings, completing the two-day job ahead of schedule.
The company had previously informed the rescue in 2023 that the remaining HVAC systems were nearing the end of their lifespan.
“We are so grateful for the donor’s grant and the public’s contributions,” said A Doggie 4 You in a press release. “The extra funds allowed us to replace the third HVAC unit, which was also beginning to fail. Now, the 180 homeless dogs we care for can sleep comfortably at night and rest in a cool environment during the day.”
As the colder months approach, the new HVAC units will also provide heat to keep the dogs healthy as they await adoption.
The rescue expressed deep gratitude to the anonymous donor and the community, stating they would not have been able to afford the necessary replacements without the support received during Big Give SA.
