A press release from the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office states that a Nov. 1 welfare check turned into an officer-involved shooting in which a 68-year-old male succumbed to his wounds.
“Today at approximately 10:53 am in Bandera County, a call came through our county dispatch 911 call center for an officer involved shooting,” read the release last Friday. “The individual who succumbed to his wounds was approximately 68 years old. This is an active investigation with the Texas Rangers who are investigating and, on the scene currently. This call came in originally as welfare check on this person.”
DPS confirmed the Rangers are investigating the incident, but told the Bulletin that the investigation is ongoing and “no further details ca be released at this time.
The Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) said in a Facebook post Friday, Nov. 1, that they are assisting the sheriff’s office.
“TMPA Regional Attorney Chad Hyde is assisting members of the Bandera County Sheriff’s Office regarding an officer-involved shooting. Thankfully, no law enforcement officers were injured!” read the post. “TMPA stands ready to support those who protect TEXAS.”
